Freshly after releasing the latest version of its Android OS, the 2.3 aka Gingerbread, Google has also shown off its next year version of the Android OS, the 3.0 Honeycomb. The best thing about this one is that this one will be the one that Google taunts as the tablet Android OS, although it will also support smart phones, or whatever you want to call them these days.

The new 3.0 Honeycomb version has been previewed by Andy Rubin and showed running on Motorola’s prototype tablet (probably a 10-incher). The new version of the Android OS looks quite good for now and there are some interesting differences when compared to the available Android 2.3.

The most noticeable difference is the lack of traditional Android buttons and it is still not clear whether it is unique to the Motorola prototype tablet and thus heavily customized or is it just the way the new Android 3.0 UI will look like. According to the presentation, the new Android OS 3.0 Honeycomb should come “sometime next year”.
