Google has launched its eBook service on Monday in a clear challenge to market leaders Amazon and Apple.

Google claims it already has about 3 million titles available in its online bookstore and that the new format will be available on tablets, smartphones, e-readers and, obviously, regular PCs.

The company has already introduced free apps for Android and Apple devices that allow readers to choose fonts, text size, spacing and adjust illumination according to lighting conditions. Google has digitized more than 15 million books so far, but not all of them have been made available yet.
