Cayman goes full monty

After a picture of the HD 6970 it has just been a matter of time before the Cayman based card goes full monty.

The design of the PCB looks surprisingly clean and this time I am looking at a 6+2-phase digital PWM voltage regulation design that gets power from 8+6-pin PCI-Express connector, so in this case I am talking about Cayman XT, or simply, the HD 6970.

The card has 2GB of memory and all the chips are located on the front side. i am not quite sure what is the purpose of the backplate, possibly to keep the VRM cooled. The GPU is angled positioned, something that we’ve seen before on AMD cards.

The rest is left for tomorrow, once AMD officially takes the NDA down
